Hi all. I am getting to tag along with my wife to Las Vegas for 5 days and want to do some detecting while she does some business. No interest in hanging out in town. My problem is most of the talk seems to focus on Northern Nevada. I emailed Gold Searchers of Southern Nevada for some club info but got no answer? I see a few areas near Searchlight and Gold Basin is a few hours away. Any thoughts about crossing into California or would I be better off driving to Arizona???? Any other clubs in that area? Not asking for your patch co-ordinates (well actually that would work too !! ) just some general areas to not waste my time in. Thanks, Ken

In proximity to Vegas, Gold Basin is probably the best location. In general, its heavily claimed and you probably would want to join a club to get access. Having a vehicle with good clearance is also a concern - the standard compact rental is not going to really take you very far off the paved roads.

Thanks Chris. I thought that might be the case. Any idea of any clubs that would have claims in Gold Basin? I am GPAA already but most of their claims seem to be pretty worked over. Ken

Hey Ken,

Pahrump is an old gold mining area; I haven't really done any research on it, but you may want to check it out since it's relatively close to Vegas.

Thanks Lunk. I iook a quick look at Pahrump and figure I'll give it and Searchlight a day each and see what I can find. Hard to believe no one in that area is talking !! Must be trying to keep the whole area a secret. HHHHHHMMMMMMMM
Well, they'll just miss out on having me clean up all the bullets and trash in the area!!!!!!!! I kinda thought maybe an hour drive into California might show a few spots but ??? Ken
