Nice first nugget, Matt!
It kinda has the shape of an ear...how long have you been nuggetshooting and what machine did you find your nugget with? It all gets easier from this point on; hopefully there's a nugget patch there!

Useing a gpx 4500. I got a mxt in january and got hooked on detecting. Bought a claim in AZ in may that is when i bought the 4500. Probly got about 4 hours on the claim to date. Got side tracked when i bought a claim on the north fork of the salmon river. Got a couple of weeks dredging before they sut it down. Not much of a claim for detecting. After reading lots of back posts i started researching for a place to detect. Went up one day last week and scoped it out then went back yesterday. Knew i was in a good spot when i started finding lots of lead slugs. Found the nugget about 3 hours in. Ya I hope it is a patch.

Matt my first nugget was a 2 grainer, like the head on a staight pin, found with a Gold Bug 2 and was I ever proud of the find. BUT, if I'd found a wopper like yours guess I'd still be up on Rich Hill at Stanton. WTG!!!

Keep it up.

Thanks for all the great feed back. LuckyLundy its to late i got gold fever bad i could have bought a house for what i spent on the salmon river claim and all the dredging equipment. had a blast for the sort time I got to do it. I love metal detecting the gold is a bonus. I have been frustrated on a place to go but followed Chris Gholsons ideas on reserching locations and by luck got lucky on the first spot i picked. It takes me awhile am a few hours away from gold country.
Hey Montana i still plan to get down that way. I will let you know maybe i could still meet you. I am trying not to go out and buying a utv like yours sounds like a blast.

Hey Flak all I got to say is way to go Matt---but now your ruined it will be tough to top that one

---Mike C...
It weighs 35.8dwt. Not much more story. I knew i had a good spot when i dug 9 bullets in a short time. No one has detected this place before as far as i can tell. I worked the area for about 3 hours before i found it. Shortly after i went to investigate another location i had planed to check out then headed home. Once i get some of this work out of the way i will get back there.
