Hey Guys,
Managed to get back out for about a day and a half hunt this weekend. I hunted pretty hard in that amount of time though, as I am very tired.
I was hunting in a very trashy area, and was swinging my 12x15 commander DD coil. What a blessing it is to have a DD while tring to weed through that amount of trash. If I had to guess I would say that about 90% of the targets I dug were non-ferrous, and those targets were composed of mainey bullets, bullet casings, and Gold! I passed over so many pieces of iron, and iron bearing hot-rocks that I didn't even have to mess with, and had piece of mind in doing so.
The largest one weighs just over 35 grams.
Good luck out there.

Beautiful specimens. That makes for a great weekend. On another subject, have you ever been around an area called Yellow Pine. Just curious if you know the area. I deer hunted there about 15 or so years ago. Beautiful area. The fella that we stayed with had a small house down from a large hunting lodge in a small valley. Beautiful area. I wasn't interested in prospecting at the time but wonder about that area now.
Anyway good on the gold, take care, Wes.

Gus. What an accomplishment. Not just the fantastic gold, but you are one of the few people who has really made the discriminator on a minelab PI work routinely and succesfully. One of these days you'll have to give us some hints as to how you are doing it. I've never really spent the time try to figure it out. My discriminator is to just go somewhere else where there isn't so much trash. Then again , I've never had a trail of monsters like you are finding lead into a trash pile. That's a lot of incentive to find a solution. Way to go!!!----Bob

Holy cow, Gus!!! Those are some real beauties...What was the total weight?WTG ...
By the way, Dodacious lived in Yellow Pine as a child...She recalls extensive gold activity in the area and also toward Stibnite...Cheers, Unc

Thanks Guys,
Wes & Ron, I have actually only been through yellow pine one time. I have heard of some nice gold that come from the area. I think they had a real bad fire in there a few years ago. Ron, I think there was about 75 grams there.
Thanks Bob, I have actually been working on putting a new article together about DD coils and their discrimination values.
All it would take for you to figure it out would be to get into an area where you were forced to. It's really not that difficult the machine does most of the work. You just have to learn the tones, know when to dig, and when to keep moving. But I will mention that the discrimination is not 100% fool proof. Thats why when the signal is questionable, I dig it anyways.
Hi Matt, This area is big enough that we should have a place to hunt for years to come.
Thanks for all your replies.
