If any of you also use the Garrett Infinium, I wanted to share an AWESOME add-on (and CHEAP AS CHIPS), link below to video.

Garrett Infinium Straight Shaft

Mine arrived today and it's great.

Hi Jennifer,

A friend of mine here in Prescott just got a great deal on a used Infinium. The shaft is probably something he'd be interested in, so I will be passing along the info. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Jennifer, how is the performance(depth-sensitivity) of your Infinium LS compared to the GP-GPX machines or a Whites PulseScan TDI?

P.S. Yes I already know the Infinium LS is for the rainy weather, lightweight compact portability for hard to access-hard to hike in areas, and/or for detecting in streams-rivers. But I ONLY want to know about performance, nothing else. Like the Infinium LS with 14x10" coil VS GP-GPX with 14x9" coil? IF you or anybody else knows.

That's great to hear Chris... it's an awesome add on and it's super priced as well... I'm happy with it.

Hi Beer, I've not turned it on yet... I don't use my toys, I only buy them to satisfy my shopping addiction..

Seriously, I have not tried it.... .but Steve's reviews on his AK Mining site seems to have lots of info...

I was researching adapters to allow use of normal headphones on this unit as well, Steve mentioned one supplier to me and then today the person who makes these straight shafts told me that he is making these now as well.... check out the picture and text from his email below... contact him directly if interested.. there is nothing in it for me other than supporting someone who is making cool upgrades for us at a decent price.

All new parts, the connector comes from Garrett and they think a lot of it. I use a 1/4 gold headphone jack for durability and seal both ends. There $29.99 plus $2.00 shipping. Again I made this because I though $69.00 was way to high and wanted to help out others. Reid

Gosh Jennifer.... with the Infinium being a diving machine, the underwater Garrett headset
has been expensive to replace. Most users just cut the cord and added a
radioshack adapter to use their choice of a headset instead of the factory supplied
headphones

Unfortunately, if a diving headset was modified, this ruined it for diving and the
radioshack adapter splice made the cord look awkward... It was better to modify a land
non-waterproof Infinium headset... But again, the cutting and splicing created an awkward
looking cord...

Reid's adapter has been long needed as the Infinium headsets are expensive due to the
Garrett waterproof diving connector not being a common "off the shelf" item in many
equipment stores.

Thanks for sharing this information. The Infinium is still the only diving/wet sand/surf
Pulse-type detector with ground balance, tracking, and fixed capabilities...

Jennifer, thanks for telling us about the upgrades for the Infinium. Now we have choices! I requested ordering info today and can't wait to use both products. biggrin.gif

I have used the Minelab SD2200D and know that the minelab is more sensitive to smaller objects, I think this is because the 10X14 DD coil that comes on
the Infinium is made to be used under water as well so they were not able to make it nearly as sensitive towards smaller objects like the minelab coils.
But I know the 5X10 DD coil is very sensitive to smaller objects, as well as the mono 8" . But at the same time I have never used a machine that is so
easy to just start hunting with. In about 98% of soil conditions the infinium is ready to go, just turn the power on. It is very easy to use. And the Iron Check
method actually works very well. Last time out detecting every item that it said was iron was iron and every item that wasn't, wasn't. I was truly impressed.
hope this helps a little.

They also make an 8" mono which is submersible as well... I've not used the machine yet, been dealing with work drama...

I think 29.00 is a real deal because Garrett doesn't give away the connector. I threw one together just for my own use since I have an Infinium myself. I also put the Anderson shaft on mine and what a change ! So these are 2 of the best things you can do for your Infinium. Good hunting all.

Hey Jennifer,
Looking forward to your report on using your Infinium. I paid for mine in about 4 months with California nuggets. I sure like the adapter that you showed, I think I will get one of those. I did make a external speaker for mine, but my soldering pulled apart, so I might get the adapter and use it with the external speaker.

Here is some pics of a few of my nuggets found with Infinium and a pic of the external speaker system.
