Thought I'd share a pic of a nugget I found this morning before the heat took control of the land.
JP
49.5 grams, found using Enhance at approx 14" depth with NF Advantage 18" Mono, very faint confused whisper type target response in hot ground with puggy clay base.

She's a beauty, JP!
The Enhance timing on the GPX-4500 is going to be tough to beat; knowing Bruce Candy though, he'll most likely come up with something to rival it on the next model. The "dark horse" Sharp timing has been very stable using a monoloop here in the Arizona and Nevada goldfields with their mild ground types; the extra depth is phenomenal! Good on ya JP...hope you find the motherlode that nugget came from!

JP. Nice piece! The Nuggetfinder Advantage coils and the 4500 are a match made in heaven. There isn't much doubt when there is metal under the coil.----Bob

G'day again everyone, it's nice that some of you remember me.
Here's some pics of the 49 gm bits little brother (15.5 grams) I found this morning, once again 18" NF ADV coil with Enhance timings and B&Z Booster/Speaker combo.
JP
PS G'day Fred M, hope all is well with you and yours?
15 gram piece with the dirt still smoldering.

JP. Well worth braving the heat for sure. Over $1,000.00 per day average for the 2 days. Yahoo, that will buy the kids some new shoes.----Bob

What gives that one nugget a different color? Is it a coating of some kind or just the composition? Good job.

The 1/2 ounce nugget was down about 14" also but it was mixed in with loose or slightly packed gravels which were choc a blok full of ironstone, this type of environment typically produces nuggets with a thin layer of manganese or iron oxides here in Clermont. I have seen nuggets actually stick to a magnet so one has to be careful their nugget target doesn't end up on the super magnet with all the ironstones and iron rubbish, a quick soak in Hydrochloric acid will soon eat away the ironstone coating leaving a nice shiny nugget. Conversely the other nugget was in wet puggy clays which often produces gold that is very clean (you get this a lot with gold found in the bottom of gullies) and bright, I think it is something to do with the complete lack of oxygen in the clays combined with the moisture that helps keep the nugget bright. Funnily enough on another unmentionable forum I have been accused of having had that nugget soaking in acid for weeks along with the suggestion that I did not find it as I have said, thing is the guy who has suggested it should know better because some of the best examples of bright gold coming out of clays I have ever seen comes from Victoria's Golden Triangle his stamping ground.
Pic of the gravels the 1/2 ouncer came out of.

Jonathan;
I have just signed on with Gold Prospecting Australia for their Tour 5 to Halls Creek...I dallyed too long to get two tours there...I reckon it is as close as I will get to the wild Kimberlys...also, I will likely spend some time with Doug Stone and Orlando if it works out...
I am open to any suggestions you may care to offer...if you show up at my campfire I will fix you chili...if I can get some green chilis down there...we can use roadkill kangaroo for meat!
I figure I can get away with a max of two months away from home...after that I am likely to find my truck and stuff at the bottom of the hill...this is a joke...of course...
